Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has broken a few records on her way to becoming the first-ever Indian to reach the final of the Spain Masters Super 300. PV Sindhu defeated Yeo Jia Min in straight games in the semi-finals to reach the final of the tournament. Sindhu is also now the only Indian badminton player to reach 10 BWF World tour events.
Sindhu had never lost to Yeo Jia Min before this tournament and she managed to keep that record going for her. Although both games were very tight, Sindhu oversaw her opponent without dropping a single game.
Jia Min kept on pushing Sinshu to the limit but the Indian superstar looked in control every time she was put under pressure. In the first game, Sindhu was behind Jia Min by 15-20 and then went on to win five consecutive points to level the game. Then, in the end, four back-to-back points from Sindhu made sure the Indian had an advantage going into the second game.
In the second game, Sindhu started very well and was leading 11-6 at a point. But the Singaporean shuttler kept on fighting and made a comeback in the match. Suddenly, the score was 14-14 and Sindhu then again managed to win three consecutive points to get ahead.
However, Jia Min was able to make another comeback in the match and levelled the score at 20-20. Sindhu looked calm again and pulled off a few great shots to earn two important points to win the semi-final of the Spain Masters Super 300 tournament.
Sindhu, the current world no. 11 will face the winner between No.1 seed Carolina Marin and Gregoria Mariska TUNJUNG in the final of Spain Masters Super 300. This will be Sindhu's first medal in 2023.
