Indian pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand is out of the Singapore Open 2024. With this, India's journey in the tournament has ended.
In the semi-finals, World No. 4 Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida of Japan defeated the Indian pair 23-21, 21-11 in a match that lasted 47 minutes.

Indian pair lost consecutive games
The first game of the women's doubles semi-final between Japan and India was very exciting. Both the pairs were not able to take lead of more than one point. Japan missed opportunities for match points three times. However, due to a mistake by the Indian pair, Matsuyama and Shida managed to win the game.
In the second game, the Indian team looked under pressure. After the initial 2 points the team started lagging behind. Gayatri and Treesa lost 21-11 in the second game and were eliminated from the Singapore Open tournament.
The Indian pair reached the semi-finals by defeating World No. 2 and 6
This was the first semi-final of BWF Super 750 tournament for India's Treesa and Gayatri. In the round of 16, they had defeated world number-2 Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee of South Korea in three games 21-9, 14-21, 21-15. After this, in the quarter-finals, they defeated world number-6 South Korean pair Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong 21-18, 21-9, 24-23 and made it to the semi-finals.
After missing out on the Paris Olympics 2024, it was a good run for the Indian pair. Earlier, both had reached the semi-finals of the 2023 All England Open. The team finished at third position.

Satwik-Chirag, Sindhu and Prannoy are already out
In the Singapore Open, World No.1 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India had lost in straight games 22-20, 21-18 to the Danish pair in the round of 32. In men's singles, India's HS Prannoy lost to 11th seed Kenta Nishimoto of Japan 13-21, 21-14, 15-21. At the same time, in the round of 16 of women's singles, Olympic medalist PV Sindhu was defeated by Spain's Carolina Marin 21-11, 11-21, 20-22.
