Manju Rani and Sakshi Chaudhary punched their way into the quarter-finals, showcasing remarkable prowess and determination in their respective matches at the Women's National Boxing Championships 2023 in Greater Noida on Monday.
In an enthralling series of bouts held at the Women's National Boxing Championships 2023, Manju Rani, the 2019 World Championships silver medalist, exhibited her finesse and strategic brilliance against Guddi to secure a 5-0 victory in the 48kg category. Manju is now set to face Sanjana in the quarter-finals.
Sakshi Chaudhary, another standout performer, delivered an inspiring performance to defeat Refa Mohid in the 57kg category. Sakshi's aggressive approach and precise punches resulted in an RSC (referee stopped contest) in the first round of the bout. Sakshi Chaudhary will go head-to-head against Aarti Mehra of Chandigarh in the quarter-finals.
The 63kg division saw Shashi Chopra continue her title defence with a win over Aarti Dariyal in the quarter-finals. Shashi secured the victory with a unanimous decision and will face Sonu for a spot in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Asian championships bronze medallist Ankushita Boro was up against Vanlalhriatpuii in the 66kg match. Ankushita dominated the proceedings throughout and ultimately won the bout by a unanimous 5-0 decision. Ankushita Boro, who won the silver medal at the last edition of the national championships, will face Anjali Tushir in the quarter-finals.
On the other hand, Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jaismine (60kg) and former youth world champion Arundhati Choudhary (66kg) notched up identical 5-0 wins to progress to the quarterfinals.

Over 300 boxers are competing across 12 weight categories at the seventh edition of the Women's National Boxing Championships 2023. The finals will be held on Wednesday. The ongoing prestigious tournament is organised by the Boxing Federation of India.
