The all-time leading run-scorer in Test cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has scored the most number of runs in South Africa vs India test matches. Out of his 15,921 Test runs, 1,741 came in 25 matches that he played against South Africa. He smashed seven tons and five fifties against the Proteas between 1992 and 2011. His highest inning score against the Proteas came in 1997 at Cape Town, where he scored 169 but unfortunately, India lost the test match.

Virender Sehwag is one of India's greatest right-handed openers to have ever played the game. In 15 matches against South Africa, he scored 1,306 runs at an average of 50.23. He scored five tons and two fifties against the Proteas in Test cricket. Sehwag, the first Indian to hit a Test triple century, brought up his highest inning of 319 against South Africa in 2008 five-day at Chennai.

'The Wall Of Indian Cricket', Rahul Dravid is India's second-highest run scorer (13288) and second-highest century-maker (36) in Tests after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. He played 21 Tests for India against the Proteas and scored 1252 runs at an average of 33.84, including two hundreds and five fifties. His historic 148 knock at Johannesburg enabled India to salvage a draw in 1997. Dravid's second century against the Proteas came at Chennai in 2008.

The former captain of the Indian test team Virat Kohli is fourth on the list with 1200+ runs. The run machine has played 14 matches against South Africa and scored 1236 runs. He hit these runs with an outstanding average of 56.18 including 3 half-centuries and 4 centuries. He has the chance to lift himself on the list during the upcoming test series starting on 26th December.

VVS Laxman was a joy to watch when he used to play in his prime. Laxman played 19 Tests against South Africa and scored 976 runs at an average of 37.54, including a hundred and six fifties.

His only hundred came in the year 2010 at the iconic Eden Gardens. He scored an unbeaten 143, which helped India to demolish the visitors by an inning and 57 runs.
