East Bengal captain and opener Abhisek Das slammed the fastest fifty of Kolkata cricket in just 10 balls against Netaji Subhas Institue on Saturday in Kolkata. The swashbuckling opener remained unbeaten on 129 from 51 balls as East Bengal registered an easy win in the Cricket Association of Bengal 1st division Pre-Quarter final match at YMCA Ground in Kolkata.

Batting first, Netaji Subhas Institue could score only 168 under the scorching heat in Kolkata. Shreyan Chakraborty took a five-wicket haul while Writtick Chatterjee took 3 wickets for East Bengal in the first inning.

During the second inning, Abhisek Das started hitting the ball out of the park and with 5 fours and 5 sixes, he completed the fastest fifty in Kolkata Club Cricket history in just 10 balls. He then went on to complete his ton in just 39 balls as East Bengal won the match in 13.5 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

Abhisek Das' other records

Abishek tends to create and break batting records. In 2019, he scored a 25-ball 100 against George Telegraph Club, which is also a record in Kolkata Club cricket.

Along with that, he is also the only batter in Bengal Cricket's history and the second in the world to score a double ton in a T20 game in 2015. Later Delhi's Subodh Bhati matched him with a double ton in a T20 game in Delhi in 2021, as the second Indian to have the record.

Ahead of the inaugural Bengal Pro T20 League, if Bengal batters can shatter records like these, it can be a good sign for the Bengal fans as they will hope to see many great homegrown talents in that tournament.
