The England Cricket Board has announced a 15-member England squad on 2 September for the upcoming T20 World Cup. But only hours after the announcement of the team, England suffered a major setback. In fact, the team's star batsman Jonny Bairstow got injured while playing golf and was ruled out of the tournament.
Jonny Bairstow's exit from the T20 World Cup was a big blow for England. However, one player has benefited from Bairstow's injury. Alex Hales has been added to the team as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow. Hales last represented England in 2019. He has also been included in the team for the T20 series against Pakistan.

"I spoke to Alex Hales, he rang me actually, and he argued why he wasn't there and I think that's quite right too. I much prefer when these people pick up the phone and say, 'come on then, why wasn't I there?' I have a huge amount of respect for that as opposed to people who go behind the scenes moaning about why they've not been picked," Rob Key, the managing director of England men's cricket team said in a statement.
