Muttiah Muralitharan started his test cricket career in 1992 against Australia. The former Sri Lankan spinner played in 133 test matches during his test career from 1992 to 2010. He became the highest wicket-taker in test history by scalping 800 wickets with an average of 22.72 and a strike rate of 55.0. He has a BBI of 9/51.

2. Shane Warne
Shane Warne, the legendary Australian spinner sits on the second position of this prestigious list with 708 test wickets. He made his test debut against India in 1992 and continued playing test cricket till 2007. During this period, he played 145 test matches and picked up 708 wickets with a strike rate of 57.4 and a BBI of 8/71.
3. Anil Kumble
Anil Kumble comes third on this list with 619 test tickets. He is undoubtedly one of the best leg spin bowlers in test cricket and started his journey with the Indian test team in 1990 against England. His last match was against Australia in 2008. During these 18 years he played in 132 test matches and scalped 619 wickets with a strike rate of 65.9 and a BBI of 10/74.
4. Rangana Herath
Rangana Herath made his test debut against Australia in 1999. Regarded as one of the greatest spinners of all time, he scalped a total of 433 test wickets. He is one of the most successful left-arm bowlers in Test cricket and continued playing test cricket till 2018. He ended his test cricket career with a strike rate of 60. and a BBI of 9/127.
5. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the strongest pillars of the Indian bowling lineup at this moment. He made his test debut against West Indies in 2011and is still an important part of the team. Ashwin scalped 427 test wickets till now with a strike rate of 52.1 and a BBI of 7/59. He will surely break and create many records in the coming years.

6. Harbhajan Singh
Next up on this list is Harbhajan Singh with 417 test wickets. In 1998, Harbhajan Singh debuted in Test cricket against Australia and played his last test match against Sri Lanka in 2015. During the span of time, he played in 103 test matches and picked up 417 wickets with a strike rate of 68.5 and a BBI of 8/84.
7. Nathan Lyon
Last but not least on this list is the Australian spinner, Nathan Lyon. Nathan debuted in Test cricket in 2011 against Sri Lanka and still continues to be a part of the Australian Cricket team. He proved himself as one of the most successful Australian spinners. Also, he is the record holder of the most test wickets by an Australian off-spin bowler.
