The news from the side is in absence of injured Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul is set to lead the side in the first test while Pujara was chosen as his deputy. All-rounder Jadeja and Shami are also ruled out of the series with Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar replacing them in the squad. Moreover, Abhimanyu Easwaran was called up as a backup opener in place of skipper Rohit.

Shubman Gill is expected to open with KL Rahul while Pujara and Kohli are set to play in their respective positions. India may go with two spinners, Ashwin and Axar, and with three pacers including bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
