The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has tested positive for Covid-19. The development comes in amid the threat of an impending third wave in India. According to the BCCI sources, Ganguly has been admitted to the hospital after his RT-PCR test report turned out to be positive. Sourav Ganguly is admitted to Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata. However, it is said that he is in a stable state at the moment.

The rise in the number of Covid-19 positive infections in various parts of India has been quite dramatic. Especially for the last few weeks. The fresh surge in the number of new cases has seen quite a few cities across the country issue restrictions. Delhi and Mumbai are leading the charts when it comes to fresh Covid cases, especially that of the new variant Omicron.

As far as the Covid cases in India are concerned, the country has reported 6,358 new cases and 6,450 recoveries over the last 24 hours. The tally of Omicron cases continues to grow, with the latest figures suggesting 653 confirmed cases. The active caseload in India currently stands at 75,456. The recovery rate, at present, is at 98.40%.
