The swashbuckling middle-order batter scored a brilliant ton to help his club win the match and save themselves from going down to Group B and C in the first-division arena.

Ayan Gupta has been scoring plenty of runs in last few seasons. Moreover, he was very close to making it to the Bengal Ranji squad last season as well. Although, Ayan did not had a great start to the season, he continued to fight as Shaymbazar kept on losing hard games. But after saving the relegation match with a century, Ayan feels he kept on getting better day by day as the season progressed.

"First of all, yes, I am very happy that I was able to save my team. The club officials were very happy. Sometimes relegations matches are more tensed than league finals because of the sheer pressure of reputation. It is good that I helped my team win. That was the main goal," Ayan Gupta said.

"Yes, the runs were not coming at the start. But, I scored few runs in the T20s and ODIs to get back in touch. The problem was all the matches that we were playing was mostly low-scoring. But, I back myself to score in any situation," Ayan added further.

Ayan has helped Nadia District win many matches in this season Inter-district matches. However, it is not his personal goals that he looks for. He feels helping the team win is the main motto.

"Whenever I play, my main goal becomes to win trophy for team. Be it with bat or ball. I want to help the team win trophies. I know if I can help the team win trophies, I will be doing good for myself as well," Gupta told Sportz Point in an exclusive interview.

Ayan has been consistently good in last few season of Kolkata Club cricket. Although he has not been able ot break the doors of Bengal cricket yet. The batter from Ranaghat feels he need to get better each and every game until he gets the Bengal Cap.

"It's great to know that selectors and team management discusses my name. But, I need to get better everyday. I know my time will come and I will break the doors to the Bengal if I consistently keep performing," Ayan told.

Ayan had batted at many places for Shaymbazar Club due to the requirement of the team. But, given a chance he would love to abt at number four. At the start of the season Ayan had some technical issues with his batting. This time it was Pranob Nandy who sorted out his batting and that helped him score more runs.

"Tultul sir (Pranob Nandy) came to our club for some period to help our side. That time he sorted out my batting and changed some of my techniques. That really did wonders for me. After that, I started scoring runs again."

With the win in the relegation match Ayan's this season is over. Now with next seaosn in mind, Ayan feels it does not mater where he plays and for which team he plays, my main motto will be to help the team win more and more games. "It is simple for me. I want to win more," he added.
