Yashasvi Jaiswal made a brilliant century in Dominica on day two of the Test match against West Indies. He became the 17th player from India to record three figures on Test debut. The last one to do so was Shreyas Iyer in 2021 against New Zealand in Kanpur. Yashasvi Jaiswal is also only the third Indian opener to make a Test hundred on debut after Shikhar Dhawan (187 v Australia, 2013) and Prithvi Shaw (134 v West Indies, 2018).

Yashasvi Jaiswal resumed on 40 not out on day 2 and showed a positive mindset and maturity. The 21-year-old accelerated after the lunch break and completed a well-made hundred. He became only the seventh Indian batter and the first in 13 years to score a Test hundred on debut away from home. Suresh Raina was the last to make 120 against Sri Lanka in 2010, and is the last Indian batter to score a Test ton on debut outside India.
"I've had a long journey. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me in any way and would like to give credit for this inning to my parents. They have been a huge contributor to my life and There is God. I would not like to say much. It is just the beginning and there is a lot to be done in the future," Yashasvi Jaiswal said. He remained not out for an individual score of 143 and will resume day 3 alongside Virat Kohli (36*).
