IPL 2026: SRH Sign Young India U-19 All-rounder Replacing Shivam Mavi

RS Ambrish, the young all-rounder from Tamil Nadu, who was part of the U19 World Cup-winning squad earlier this year, will replace Shivam Mavi in the squad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) just strengthened their IPL 2026 squad by replacing injured pacer Shivam Mavi with India U-19 all-rounder for the rest of the season.

RS Amrish, the young all-rounder from Tamil Nadu, who was part of the U19 World Cup-winning squad earlier this year, will replace the pacer in the squad. Mavi, who featured in 32 IPL games so far in his career, will miss the season because of a groin injury.

Who is RS Ambrish?

The 18-year-old Tamil Nadu pacer, who idolises Ben Stokes, has featured for his state in two first-class games before lifting the ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup 2026. The right-hand medium pacer, who has the skill to bowl hard lengths and can hit the yorkers, ended the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker for India with 11 scalps. 

In fact, it was his 4/29 against New Zealand and 3/56 in the final against England U-19 that impressed one and all. Those spells have ultimately helped him get his maiden IPL contract.

Along with his bowling prowess, Ambrish is handy with his left-handed batting skill as well. In the U-19 World Cup, he added valuable contributions with the bat, batting at seven. The youngster will join SRH for INR 30 lakh.

SRH will look to extend their winning streak

SRH are currently in third position on the points table with six wins in nine games. With the youngster in their squad now and a greater bench strength, they would definitely look to extend their five-match winning streak. 

They will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings next at their home before travelling to Ahmedabad to face the Gujarat Titans.
