Team News

Chennai Super Kings

Five-time champions CSK had put more emphasis on picking spinners in the mega auction held last year for IPL 2025. Chennai has good spinners in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Shreyas Gopal, Deepak Hooda and Ravindra Jadeja.

CSK vs MI IPL 2025 Match Preview, Head-to-head, Possible XIs and Fantasy Team Prediction

There were indications during CSK's pre-season training camp that spinners could play a big role at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Chennai team will leave no stone unturned to make full use of this strength against Mumbai.

Once again, all eyes will be on Mahendra Singh Dhoni who has been associated with this team since the inception of IPL in 2008.

CSK vs MI IPL 2025 Match Preview, Head-to-head, Possible XIs and Fantasy Team Prediction

There is healthy competition for the opening pair in Chennai. New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra is set to open the innings with team captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Indian batsmen like Rahul Tripathi, Shivam Dubey, Deepak Hooda will take charge of the middle order, while Dhoni and Jadeja will come after that.

Mumbai Indians

As far as Mumbai is concerned, they will miss the Indian team's fast bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah a lot, who is in the process of making a comeback after recovering from injury. Bumrah's playing in the initial phase of the IPL is doubtful and it will be difficult for Mumbai to replace him.

The surface of the Narendra Modi Stadium looks good for batting where we can expect a 200-plus total getting scored easily in the first innings. It also has a good bounce where the fast bowlers can get the movement. However, as the match progresses, the pitch tends to slow down which means that the spinners can make an impact.

The average batting first score at this ground is around 170 runs. Out of these 36 IPL matches played at this ground, the team batting first won 16 times while the 20 matches have been won by the team batting second.

Pitch & Weather Report

The surface of the Narendra Modi Stadium looks good for batting where we can expect a 200-plus total getting scored easily in the first innings. It also has a good bounce where the fast bowlers can get the movement. However, as the match progresses, the pitch tends to slow down which means that the spinners can make an impact.

The average batting first score at this ground is around 170 runs. Out of these 36 IPL matches played at this ground, the team batting first won 16 times while the 20 matches have been won by the team batting second.

Team News

Gujarat Titans

For the high-voltage match against Mumbai Indians, GT could drop Arshad Khan to the bench and replace him with Washington Sundar. Sundar was surprisingly left out of GT’s playing XI in the last match against PBKS, where the team’s best bowler was R Sai Kishore. The advantage with Sundar is that he can bowl in the powerplay as well and is capable of scoring runs at a quick pace in the middle overs.

The home team will have high expectations from Mohammed Siraj against MI. Siraj made a forgetful debut for GT against PBKS, and he, along with Prasidh Krishna, would like to make up for it on Saturday.

As far as GT’s batting is concerned, the onus once again will be on the top three of Sai Sudharsan, Gill and Jos Buttler.

Mumbai Indians

Hardik Pandya is all set to play his first match of IPL 2025 on Saturday and will lead Mumbai Indians as well. He missed the team’s last match against CSK in Chennai on Sunday (March 23) due to a one-match suspension he was carrying from the 2024 season.

Hardik’s return to the playing XI will add strength to MI’s bowling attack, which will miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah on Saturday as well. Bumrah is yet to get clearance from NCA to join the Mumbai Indians squad for IPL 2025.

In the match at the world’s largest cricket stadium, MI will expect a big show with the bat from England star Will Jacks. Jacks scored a 42-ball century for his previous franchise, RCB, in the IPL 2024 match played against Titans.

Andhra pacer Satyanarayan Raju is likely to make way for 24-year-old Kerala spinner Vignesh Puthur in the playing XI after he picked up three wickets against CSK on IPL debut.
