Team News
Delhi Capitals
Delhi with zero points from two matches are at number 8 of the points table. They lost to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 12 runs in their second match and going into the third match, CSK are the clear favourites. Khalil Ahmed did make a strong comeback after a poor spell in the first game. He bowled brilliantly against a star-studded batting lineup of RR but Mukesh Kumar and Anrich Nortje proved expensive.

Axar Patel did what was expected from him and he was a standout bowler besides Khalil but Kuldeep Yadav conceded runs cheaply against RR after his brilliant first-game performance. CSK have a huge batting lineup and everyone is in pretty good form so it will be very tough for DC to stop them from scoring. The Pacers have to step up otherwise it will be a cakewalk for the defending champions.
The batting wasn't good either. There are many problems in Delhi Capitals and the batting depth is just one of those. David Warner has once again started the season on high, scoring runs consistently but the other batters are not stepping up. Mitchell Marsh started well but couldn't extend his inning further while Ricky Bhui threw away his wicket for a duck. If this goes on, Delhi might have to replace Marsh with someone else.
Rishabh Pant is still not sharp enough and it's understandable. But, the early signs are looking good. Stubbs played a solid inning against RR and will have to do the same against CSK as well. This is a huge season for Abishek Porel and he will be hoping to take all the opportunities he is getting.

Chennai Super Kings
CSK put in the right amount of money for the right players and they are sitting at the top of the table with two victories in two games. This proves why they are so consistent with their performances over the years. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the new skipper of Chennai Super Kings has never looked under pressure and has led the team from the front. Rachin Ravindra's purchase is an absolute bargain for the defending champions as the New Zealand opener is proving his worth with batting and fielding. Ajinkya Rahane hasn't scored big runs but the signs are good and there is no doubt that he will be in the playing xi against DC.
Shivam Dube has been consistent since the last season and he is just ripping apart the opposition bowlers. Daryl Mitchell has been more than good in his first two IPL matches and will be an important player for the franchise in the upcoming matches. Sameer Rizvi did get the opportunity to bat in the last match and played a good short cameo. The former CSK skipper, MS Dhoni hasn't batted so far and the fans are eager to see him in action with the bat but he has done his job from behind the stumps, pulling off some sensational catches and run-outs.

Ravindra Jadeja is just enjoying his career in CSK at the moment and doing exactly what is expected from him. There are no doubts about his ability and he has performed well so far this season. Deepak Chahar is leading the pace attack from the front while Tushar Deshpande will be hoping to replicate his last match performance. Pathirana made a comeback in the playing xi in the last match and bowled a solid 4-over spell while Mustafizur Rahman picked up two important wickets in the previous match. The CSK bowling attack is looking very dangerous at the moment and they are a perfect team all together.
