GT won the toss & decided to bowl first. David Warner & Prithvi Shaw opened the innings for Delhi. David Warner showed positive intent and gave Delhi a brilliant start but Shami drew the first blood by dismissing Shaw (7). David Warner was showing some fine shots all around the ground but he never got the chance to change his gear. Joseph scalped his wicket & Delhi came under pressure. Rilee Rossouw returned to the dugout for a golden duck as Joseph was also behind his wicket. Sarfaraz held onto the pitch & kept the scoreboard on.
The 20-year-old debutant Abishek Porel played a small cameo of 20 runs but Rashid Khan didn't give him the option to carry on & removed him from the crease. Rashid Khan also dismissed Sarfaraz & all the responsibilities came upon the shoulder of Axar Patel. He didn't let down his team and the fans. Axar smashed 3 sixes and 2 boundaries, and with the help of that, DC reached a respectable total of 162 runs. Patel scored 36 runs in just 22 deliveries as Shami scalped his wicket in the fourth delivery of the final over. Rashid Khan & Shami both took 3 wickets each while Joseph collected two big wickets to his name.
