Faf du Plessis completes 4000 runs in IPL

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis reached 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League while batting against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, 14 May. He also became the first player to cross 600 runs in the ongoing edition of the tournament. Du Plessis is also the orange cap holder with 631 runs after playing 12 games with a strike of 158 in the ongoing season of IPL.

The South Africa international played 128 matches to achieve the milestone. He continued his good run with the bat and anchored the innings on a slow pitch at Jaipur. While his opening partner Virat Kohli got out early in the game, du Plessis combined with Maxwell to rebuild the innings. The batter has led the Orange Cap race throughout the season, although players like Yashasvi Jaiswal are quickly catching on to the RCB batter in the final stretch of the tournament. So far, du Plessis has hit seven half-centuries this season.

He scored 55 runs in 44 deliveries before losing his wicket to KM Asif. Royal Challengers Bangalore posted 171 runs after the end of 20 overs. The match against Rajasthan Royals is Faf du Plessis' 128 game in the Indian Premier League. The former South Africa captain arrived in Bangalore back in the 2022 season and took over as a leader after Virat Kohli decided to step down.
