Chases have become a successful trend in IPL in recent times. Better pitches, dew, and skills of batters have helped teams chase down even totals over 250 in the last few seasons. However, a few batting collapses in the first innings have allowed a few very quick chases as well. This brings us to present you with the list of the top five fastest chases in IPL history.
#1 Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders | 5.3 overs
Mumbai Indians hold the record for the fastest chase in IPL history.
In the inaugural IPL season in 2008, Mumbai Indians chased down Kolkata Knight Riders' 68-run target in just 5.3 overs to help them create history.
Shaun Pollock's 12/3, Dwayne Bravo's 13/2 and Dominic Thornel's 7/2 ran a riot through the KKR batting lineup. Only three KKR batters reached double figures that night as they registered their lowest IPL total ever.
With the legend Sanath Jayasuriya in the team, they didn't need much time to chase KKR's target. With eight wickets in hand, the Paltans chased the target in 5.3 overs with Jayasuriya unbeaten on 48 off 17 balls.
#2 Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Delhi Capitals | 6.3 overs
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) nearly broke Mumbai Indians' record in IPL 2026 when they chased down a target in just 6.3 overs against the Delhi Capitals.
In the 39th match of the season, Josh Hazlewood (12/4) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar's (5/3) fiery opening spell bundled Delhi Capitals on 75 in the first inning. The Capitals had lost six wickets for just eight runs and nearly threatened to break RCB's infamous 49-run record.
However, the impact rule substitute Abishek Porel's 30 off 33 took them to 75 in the first inning.
During the chase, Virat Kohli (23 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal (34 off 13) took RCB home in just 6.3 overs to register the second-fastest chase in IPL history.

#3 Kochi Tuskers vs Rajasthan Royals | 7.2 overs
Kochi Tuskers Kerala was a part of the lucrative league for a very short period. In between that time, the team made a good name among all with a star-studded lineup.
In the 2011 season, against the Rajasthan Royals, Kochi first bundled the 2008 winners for just 97 in the first innings. Veteran Aussie star Brad Hodge picked up four wickets for just 13 runs, while S.Sreesanth picked up two wickets for them.
Although it did not look like a target to be chased in just 7.2 overs, Brad Hodge's unbeaten 33 off 17 balls, and a fiery start from Brendon McCullum, took them home comfortably.
#4 Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals | 7.5 overs
Unfortunately, the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) come in the list for the second time as they were thrashed by the Punjab Kings (then KXIP) in 2017 in just 7.5 overs.
Sandeep Sharma picked up four wickets for just 20 runs, while Varun Aroon and Axar Patel picked up two each to pack Delhi for just 67 runs.
Punjab's opener Martin Guptill continued the domination by scoring an unbeaten 27-ball fifty as they chased down the total with 73 balls remaining in the match.

SRH easily chased down the total runs within 8 overs and won the match by 9 wickets with 72 balls left. Abhishek Sharma was the star with the bat with a 27-ball 48.
