"I want to thank Stephanie for her amazing leadership of the team over the years. We've achieved some of our biggest milestones with her and I look forward to continuing to play with her," She added.

Head coach Courtney Walsh said: "We felt the timing was right with the ICC Women's T20 World Cup early next year, if we are looking to make any changes now it would be the best time so we can give the new captain some She has a series under her belt before entering the World Cup. Hayley Matthews is young; she has longevity in the game, and she can lead the team long enough to gain experience and we're going to support her. It's a win-win for us as we will have Stephanie focus on her best cricket and guide Haley as she grows into the role of taking the team forward."
