Jaiswal overtakes Rohit Sharma in the latest ICC Test Batting Rankings

Yashasvi Jaiswal's consistent performance continues. The left-handed opener has scored 655 runs to lead the batting charts after the first four Tests of the 5-match series. Yashasvi, with two double hundreds, equalled Virat Kohli's record for the most runs in a bilateral series against England in Test cricket. After this, he has jumped three places and reached number 12 in the latest ICC Test Batting Rankings. Not only this, he has also managed to overtake Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. In the earlier ranking, Jaiswal was at 15th place with a rating of 699, now his rating has increased to 727.

Jaiswal has the potential to be in the top 10

Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is at 13th with a loss of one place and Rishabh Pant is at 14th. If Jaiswal's bat works even in the last match of the series, he has the potential to be in the top 10. Presently his rating is 727 and the rating of the number ten batsman is 743, which means there is not much difference in the ratings. It remains to be seen how Jaiswal's bat performs in the last match on the Dharamshala ground.

Jaiswal equals Virat Kohli's record

Yashasvi's brilliant performance also included two double centuries, due to which he equaled Virat Kohli's record of scoring most runs in a bilateral series against England in Test cricket. Despite the drop in the rankings, Virat Kohli remains India's highest-ranked Test batsman at 9th. Kohli did not play in the first two Tests and then withdrew from the entire series to take paternity leave, which led to a decline in his ranking.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the find of the series as the young opener seems to have translated his potential into match-winning ability for the senior national team. In the absence of senior batters like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, Yashasvi took up the burden of responsibility with ease, scoring as many as two double hundreds, becoming only the third man after Kohli and Vinod Kambli to hit double hundreds in successive Test matches for India.
