IND vs BAN series: India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is out of the Test series against Bangladesh. Jadeja is currently recovering from his knee surgery. However, with a short turnaround for the Bangladesh Test series, he will miss out. Instead, he will prepare for a return in home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in January. Suryakumar Yadav and Saruabh Kumar are on standby for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

While the selectors picked Jadeja for the ODI series against Bangladesh and put a fitness test condition on his inclusion in the Test, he will not make it. InsideSport understands that Jadeja is yet to fully recover completely from the knee surgery. As per the doctors' advice, he is currently on rest. He has not begun full-fledged training to give the knee time to heal.
"No, he will not make it in time for the Test series. We were hoping he could return. But Jadeja needs time. The medical team has advised him to take it easy. He has a history of knee problems and we don't want to rush his return to grueling Test-match action yet."
a selection committee member told InsideSport
Jadeja is currently utilizing his time off cricket, campaigning for his wife Rivaba Jadeja in Gujarat Assembly Elections. Rivaba is a BJP candidate from Jamnagar (North) constituency.
Ravindra Jadeja is out of action since the middle of the Asia Cup. He missed most of the games in the Asia Cup and underwent knee surgery in Mumbai. After being ruled out of the T20 World Cup, he is currently in rehab.
"Surya and Saurabh are on standby. But we will take a call after the India A series. Axar will be there with the team and has an excellent Test record in the subcontinent. For Surya, he is in excellent form but the focus is on white-ball cricket. He hasn't played much red-ball cricket. So, we don't want to throw him to Test cricket immediately," the selection committee member said.
However, India will not face much trouble in Jadeja's absence. Axar Patel will be with the squad in Bangladesh and he is the frontrunner to feature in both Tests.
