IND vs SA: Kohli's form with the bat will define India's campaign in the series, says Jacques Kallis

Veteran South African cricketer Jacques Kallis believes that star batsman Virat Kohli needs a stellar performance with the bat for India to win the IND vs SA Test series on South African soil.

The former Indian captain had to struggle in the red ball format in recent times, but in his last Test match against West Indies, he scored a brilliant century. Kohli's performance in the recently concluded ODI World Cup was also excellent and now he would like to perform well in the upcoming IND vs SA Test series as well.

Jacques Kallis believes that Kohli knows well how to proceed in South African conditions and his experience can be useful to other players as well. The 48-year-old Kallis reminded that Kohli has had a lot of success in South Africa and hence, he will once again be important for India and hopes that he has a good series.

Speaking about this matter, Jacques Kallis said, "He's a massive player, no matter where it is. Having played here quite a bit and had a fair amount of success. He'll be able to pass that knowledge on to the other guys, especially the younger guys and give them ideas on how to manage these conditions and then what to expect."

Kallis also added that he believes Kohli's form with the bat will define India's campaign in the IND vs SA series."I am sure he will want to have a big series here in South Africa. He has been in good form. I think he will play a major role in helping India. If they are to win here, he will have to have a good series," Kallis added.

Despite performing well in the T20 World Cup 2022 and IPL 2023, Virat Kohli's place in Team India is not confirmed as far as T20I cricket is concerned. According to reports, the Indian board is ready to give more opportunities to the youth brigade, due to which Virat may have to sit out.

However, there is no official confirmation regarding this yet and this may change if the Delhi-born cricketer is successful in performing brilliantly in the upcoming edition of IPL.
