Sachin Tendulkar played an unbeaten inning of 241 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Master Blaster had achieved this feat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2003-04.

Their meeting in 2020-21 ended with honours even courtesy of a remarkable final day rearguard from Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Hanuma Vihari, and R Ashwin who all faced over 100 balls. Pujara also scored 193 in the 2018-19 SCG Test, which ended as a rain-curtailed draw.
