The India vs Bangladesh first test at Chennai got wrapped up on day 4. Bangladesh could only score 234 runs while chasing a mammoth 515 in the second inning. India's bowling lineup was on target with Ravichandran Ashwin picking up another five-wicket hauls in the second inning.
The first test witnessed an unexpected turn of the coin. India got a trembling start from the batters in the first innings but was later rescued by Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. However, with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Akasdeep in the first innings, India restricted the Bengal Tigers to 149 runs.
The second innings saw the Gabba duo back in form. The dual century from Shubhman Gill (119 of 176 balls) and Rishabh Pant (109 of 128) posted a healthy total of 516 runs on the scoreboard. Thanks to the Bangladeshi's nervous fielding in the later half, giving India an upper hand in the test
Rishabh Pant Comeback
The series had high hopes on Rishabh Pant. Him coming back to the whites is sealed with his batting heroics. However, the glovesman Pant is yet to come back. Some silly leaves, with him not being able to judge the bounce may haunt him in the future.
Speaking about his batting, Pant holds the anxious nerves of Indian batting in the first innings. a 39-run inning, may look short, but was exactly what India needed then. The rookie Yashasvi Jaiswal was alone guarding the stumps. His partners were leaving one by one, when the fourth wicket 50+ runs, gave some sort of stable state to the team
.
Rishabh falling for an outside off stump ball could have been criticized, but his second innings show shadowed the earlier flaws.

Ravichandran Ashwin Heroics
What if someone tags Ravichandran Ashwin as a batting darkhorse, apart from just being a bowling maestro! Ashwin padded up in the nets is not an unusual scene. But equalling M.S. Dhoni's test century counts, is crazy enough. He is a full time bowler, but whith the usual flop shows of the India top order, the "taileneder" tag should be replaced by "tailblazers" tag.
When things looked impossible, Ash made the fans believe that this word is not in his dictionary, at least in Chennai. He smached his fastest ever test century- 113 of 133 balls. Who knows if he would have gotten a second chance to bat!
The bowling nerd did another masterclass with the ball. India's first bowling innings got him no wickets but 4 maiden overs (most in his team), with an economy of 2.23 (lowest in team). And the second innings got him 6 wickets.
Just to the fans' knowledge, Ash overtook the legendary Courtney Walsh's wicket counts. Walsh had 519 wickets in 132 test match he played. Ashwin right now has 522 wickets, shining in the 8th rank of highest wicket takers.

The Unsung Bumrah
The bowlers' gang led by Jasprit Bumarah should have the credit for making the situation easy for the Indian batters.
In the first Innings, the bowlers bundled out the Bangladeshi batters within 149 runs. Bumrah tops the list with 4 wickets. That includes an unplayable yorker delivered to the opener Shadman Islam!
In the second innings, he took 2 wickets and slowed the run flow aiding Ashwin and Jadeja to lead the show.
