Rain may have played spoilsport on Sunday but India registered a huge victory on the reserve day against their arch-rival Pakistan. India wrote history at Colombo after winning against their biggest rival in Cricket by 228 runs. At first, the Men in Blues put up a huge total of 356 runs after losing only two wickets. Virat Kohli scored his 47th ODI century while Kl Rahul scored his sixth century after coming back to the squad for the first time in almost 6 months. Kuldeep Yadav then picked up a fifer to shatter Pakistan's batting lineup completely to only 128 runs. Fans thought that the India vs Pakistan fixture would end without a result once again due to rain but it didn't happen and the fans got to witness their favourite players giving everything on the field despite the rain interruption.

India vs Pakistan: Virat and Kl Rahul's destructive tons shocked Pakistan

Resuming India's innings from 147/2 after 24.1 overs, Kohli and Rahul made their intentions clear right from the start. The duo then went to produce their respective centuries and returned unbeaten putting up a massive 356/2 in 50 overs. This is also India's joint-highest ODI total against Pakistan, matching a total of 356/9, which they achieved back in 2005 at Vishakhapatnam.

Kohli scored an unbeaten 122 from 94 deliveries, which included nine fours and three sixes. Rahul, who was playing his first match in 6 months after returning from a thigh injury, finished on an unbeaten 111 from 106 balls. His knock featured 12 boundaries and 2 maximums.

Bumrah's return and a fifer from Kuldeep Yadav shattered Pakistan's Lineup

Jasprit Bumrah played his first ODI match after coming back from the injury for the first time and he did deliver in the powerplays. He picked up the wicket of Imam-ul-Haq which was a much-needed wicket for India.

Then Hardik came up with the biggest wicket of Pakistan. He sent Babar Azam to the dressing room for just 10 runs. Kuldeep Yadav delivered a stunning performance and completed his second fifer in the ODIs. The Pakistan batters didn't catch up with his spin and shattered down completely. He picked up the wickets of Salman, Iftikhar, Shadab, Faheem and Fakhar Zaman. Pakistan couldn't make a comeback and lost the match by a huge margin of 228 runs.

"I was going to ask you to keep the interview short, I'm very tired. I'm always prepared to help the team in different ways. Today, KL got a great start and my job was just to rotate strike. I take a lot of pride in trying to push for easy runs, pushing for a double is as easy as they come. (On the reverse ramp boundary) Because I crossed the 100, there was a bit of respect for that shot. I don't play shots like that and I looked very bad playing it. Me and KL are both conventional cricketers, We don't try fancy stuff but we can get a lot of purchases through good cricket shots. A great partnership and a good sign for Indian cricket. Very happy for him to come back to ODI cricket in that manner. (On playing again tomorrow) I was pushing for those runs and happy for it, but I was thinking I need to play at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Luckily, we are Test players so I know how to come back and play the next day. It was really humid out there, I'm 35 in November so I need to be taking care of that recovery as well (chuckles). A big shout-out to the groundsmen from my side, I think they did a fabulous job."

- Virat Kohli after receiving the Man of the Match Award

"We just wanted to get out on the park, to get some game time. A lot of guys haven't had that. That could only happen thanks to a great effort from the groundsmen. I know how tough it is to cover and remove covers from the whole ground. On behalf of the entire team, we would like to thank them. (On batting) Fantastic performance, right from yesterday. When we started, we knew the wicket was good and we had to adjust with the rain. The two experienced guys we knew they'd take time to get their eye in and then we can get going. Looked good, he swung it both ways and he's worked really hard for the last 8-10 months. Bumrah is only 27. For him to miss games isn't ideal but the way he bowled showed what he is all about. Looking at how we batted, there were lots of positives with the openers and then Virat and KL. Virat's innings was brilliantly paced."

- India captain Rohit Sharma

"We were not up to the mark with our batting and bowling. They (Indian openers) had plans for our bowlers and started well and that was followed up by Virat and Rahul. Jasprit and Siraj bowled well in the first 10 overs and swung the ball both ways, but our batting was not up to the mark."
