During the Gabba Test, Jasprit Bumrah broke a big record of former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev. He has now become the Indian bowler who has taken the most number of 5-fers in the SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia). He did this feat eight times. While Kapil Dev has done this 7 times.

Legendary Bishan Singh Bedi has five five-wicket hauls to his name in 25 matches played in SENA countries. He was India's most successful left-arm spinner in Tests before Ravindra Jadeja eventually surpassed him during the 2023 ICC World Test Championship against Australia.

In his career, Bishan Singh played a total of 25 matches of 42 innings across England, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, and picked up a total of 90 wickets.

The premium left-arm seamer of India, Zaheer Khan has been one of the most lethal bowlers in the history of Indian cricket. Whether it was the white-ball formats or the Test cricket, he was India's ace bowler. Zaheer comes fourth on the list with six fifers as well in SENA nations. 

While the bowlers could not perform in the New Zealand conditions, Zaheer was among the rarest ones, who has four five-wicket hauls on the New Zealand soil. However, the remaining two fifers of Zaheer came in Australia and England. In the 53 innings that he featured across these nations, he scalped 119 wickets.

The former Indian leg-spinner, Bhagwath Chandrasekhar, who represented India from the years 1964 to 1979, is among the elite panel of Indian bowlers who were successful in the SENA conditions. He comes third on the list with 6 five-wicket hauls and has the joint-highest number of fifers among Indian spinners in SENA countries. 

In just 19 Test games of 32 innings in the SENA countries, Chandrasekhar managed to pick six five-wicket hauls. Also, he never got to feature in an ODI against these four nations.

The 1983 World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev has enjoyed his time playing cricket in the SENA countries and was one of the toughest players. He has clinched 7 five-wicket hauls in these conditions. No wonder why he loved playing in England and Australia. 

The all-rounder never took a five-wicket haul in New Zealand and South Africa but he was invaluable in England and Australia for the Indian team. In his career, Kapil Dev played a total of 35 matches of 62 innings across England, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, and picked up a total of 117 wickets.

India's ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah ended with figures of 5/72 in 25 overs on Day 2 of the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2025. With his fifer, Bumrah surpassed Kapil Dev’s tally of seven five-wicket hauls in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia). He has now become the only Indian bowler with the most number of 5-fers in SENA.

Bumrah has nailed English and South African conditions, picking up five-wicket hauls three times in both nations, while his two fifers came in Australia. He is yet to showcase his brilliance in New Zealand, but he has been nothing short of magnificent when it comes to SENA countries. Having played 55 innings across these nations, he has scalped 131 wickets so far.

Josh Hazlewood is one of the most celebrated ace speedsters in international cricket. Hazlewood stands out for his stronger impact in limited-overs cricket, he maintains a better economy rate, delivers superior best figures.

Making his debut in 2013, Hazlewood has bowled seven maiden overs in the shortest format of the game. In 55 T20I, Hazlewood has claimed 73 wickets with an average of 21.83 and an economy rate of 7.60. No fast bowler from a Test nation has claimed more T20I wickets at a better economy rate since then.

4. Tim Southee | 7

Tim Southee had a fruitful 16-year-long T20I career. The right-arm swing bowler was often New Zealand’s third or fourth bowler in the shorter format, and he delivered in spades. Southee bowled seven maiden overs in the shortest format of the game.

Southee also bagged 164 wickets in 123 innings at an average of 22.38. He delivered his best performance 5/18 against Pakistan in December 2010.

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has quite a few variations which have led to his success as a bowler in T20I cricket. If there is anyone who can overtake Shakib Al Hasan to become Bangladesh’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is, it’s Mustafizur. He has bowled eight maiden overs in T20I cricket as of now, the most for Bangladesh.

Mustafizur bowls a mix of cutters and slower ones in the middle overs besides getting his yorkers right at the death. He did so at the 2016 T20 World Cup, on his way to a maiden five-wicket haul in T20 cricket. He finished the match with an outstanding 5/22.

2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar | 10

Bhuvi made his T20I debut against Pakistan in December 2012. He bowled the 10th maiden in a T20 World Cup match against Zimbabwe on November 6, 2022.

Bhuvneshwar, who is known for his astute impeccable line and length, has picked up 90 wickets from 87 T20Is so far. His average and economy rate read 23.10 and 6.96.
