The Indian team had a disastrous experience in the 3-match ODI series of the India tour of South Africa. Their performance in white-ball cricket is facing some issues with both batting and bowling. Their struggle was also quite visible in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Due to the absence of regular white-ball captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul took the responsibility of leading the team in the ODI series against the Proteas and faced a horrible loss of 3-0.

Rohit Sharma is coming back into the squad and this might decrease the issues the team is facing at the moment. Also, according to Indian Cricket Team News, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya are also coming back to the squad along with their captain. Even after having some great bowlers, India is lacking to scalp crucial wickets at regular intervals. Their inability to pick up wickets is raising a lot of questions these days.
Players who can be tried out in the shorter format:
The team always had a lack of wrist spinners, but now no left-arm seamers are leading to more problems. A left-arm seamer can help in the middle overs and also adds a lot of variation to the attack. Though India tried to play with Jaydev Unadkat and Khaleel Ahmed, unfortunately, both of them failed to make a mark. On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh was phenomenal while playing for Punjab Kings in IPL. He bowls in difficult overs and there is no reason why the team shouldn't give him a chance in T20Is.

Thangarasu Natarajan had a brilliant season in IPL, and that led to his debut for India in December 2020. He was in great form but unfortunately, he could not play regularly due to injuries. According to Indian Cricket Team News, he has recovered and is fit at the moment. It is really necessary that the Indian team management gives these talents opportunities, given the present circumstances of the team are quite doubtful.
During the times of Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, or MS Dhoni, the Indian team did not have a perfect left-arm pacer in the squad. At one point in time, there were Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Ashish Nehra in the team who were some of the biggest assets of the bowling lineup.
