India Women failed to keep up the momentum in the tournament as they face their first defeat of the ICC Women's World Cup 2022 today against the hosts New Zealand. The Kiwis grabbed their second victory by 62 runs against India here at Seddon Park, Hamilton.

After winning the toss, Mithali Raj and co put their foot on the field as they got the wicket of Suzie Bates in the third over. After that, the Kiwis in form batters Kerr and Devine helped NZ to put up a good partnership before Devine got caught by Richa Ghosh on Pooja's delivery.

Meanwhile, then Amy Satterthwaite and Amelia Kerr took NZ home as the home team finishes on a good total of 260 in 50 overs. After Kerr and Amy's wicket the Kiwis wicket-keeper batter Martin played an inning of 41 to help NZ to put up a fighting total. Pooja Vastrakar took 4 wickets while Gayakwad took two.

Harmanpreet's 71 runs knock went in vain as India fell short by 62 runs

However, in the run chase, India lost their in-form batter Smriti Mandhana in just 6 runs. Soon they lost their other two key batsmen Yastika and Deepti as India slips down to 50-3 in 18 overs. After some time India got a huge blow as they lost their skipper Mithali Raj in the 30th over. At that time India was 97-4 in 30 overs. The woman in blue makes a comeback when Harmanpreet Kaur hammered her 3rd ODI World Cup fifty.

Although, Harmanpreet Kaur scored a fifty (71 off 63) but regular wickets were failing on the other side as Richa went for a first-ball duck. In form batter, Sneh Rana(18) and Pooja(6) went under a low score. India slips down again when Harmanpreet got caught by skipper Devine on Kerr's delivery.

Soon India Women were bundled out on the score of 198 in the 47th over.

India Women now will face the mighty West Indies side on Saturday, March 12. The West Indies Women are currently at the top of the points table with two wins in as many games.
