Tim Southee joins Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the remaining half of the IPL 2021. KKR has signed Tim Southee for the remaining 31 games of the IPL as a replacement for Pat Cummins.

A KKR official confirmed the news of roping in the New Zealand pacer as a replacement of Pat Cummins for the remainder of IPL 2021 on 26 August.
It is a huge loss for KKR as the all-rounder Pat Cummins took the decision of stepping out from the remaining part of IPL 2021. Pat Cummins and his partner are looking forward to the birth of their child during September- October.
Tim Southee remained unsold in the IPL 2020 after feature in the T20 league for 6 consecutive years. The last time he was seen playing for an IPL franchise was in 2019 in Royal Challengers Bangalore. He ended the series with an economy rate of 13 in only 3 matches. He was also a part of Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The 32-year-old played in 40 IPL matches and scalped 28 wickets with an economy rate of 8.47.
