A ray of sunshine in these gloomy times for the cricket fans! VIVO IPL 2021 is going to resume later this year. The hosting country has been shifted from India to the United Arab Emirates because of the second wave of coronavirus in India. Initially, the situation was under control but after some matches, the players, people from the management started testing positive of coronavirus even inside the bio bubble. Hence, it was decided by the BCCI to postpone the rest of the 31 matches. On Saturday, Vijay Shukla, the vice President of BCCI, confirmed the news that IPL 2021 is resuming soon by September-October.

Before indefinitely postponing the matches, the last match was played between DC and PBKS. DC won that match and ranked number 1 at the table. CSK is at the 2nd position, RCB at 3rd, MI at 4th followed RR, PBKS, KKR, and SRH respectively.

The second leg on IPL 2021 is set to start from 19th September. The preparations are going in full force as BCCI and UAE government working hard to make it another successful IPL. However, the allowance of crowds in the stadium was a question for both the fans and BCCI. Earlier UAE government had stated that 60% of vaccinated crowds will be allowed into the stadium for the second leg of IPL 2021.

Since 2019, BCCI was forced to host the Indian Premier League without the crowd due to covid situations. This will be the first time when in two years crowds will be allowed into the stadiums.

"This match will be a momentous occasion as IPL will welcome the fans back to the stadiums after a brief hiatus owing to the Covid-19 situation," BCCI statement read today. However, they have confirmed that there will be limitations in seats due to covid guidelines.

The tickets for the second leg will be sold on IPL's official website and elsewhere from September 16. Just like last year, Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi will hosts the remainder of the matches. Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings on the 19th to kick off the second leg.

Earlier this year, the 14th season of IPL had started in India. However, as players kept on getting affected by Covid, BCCI was forced to pause the Indian Premier League mid-term. After finding a period to resume the competition just before the T20 World Cup, BCCI is confident enough to finish the second leg on a high note.

Just when India thought they had a fixed opening pair in the form of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, Gill suffered a shin injury. He was all set to make his case against the best bowlers of England. However, things changed drastically and he had to return home after the WTC final against New Zealand. Tention arose in the KKR dugout as they were worried about his return to the camp ahead of the IPL.

However, some recent reports and developments suggest that Shubman Gill has recovered from injury. Subsequently, chances of him returning to the KKR dugout ahead of the second phase of the IPL are high as well. A close source of the entire development has revealed that the Punjab batter has recovered and now is in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

"Gill is in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and has recovered from his shin pain. He will be departing for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) soon for the IPL. He has been at the NCA for a week now."
