New Update

With his fifty against KKR in the first match of IPL 2022, MS Dhoni is now the oldest to score an IPL fifty. The former Chennai Super Kings captain scored an unbeaten fifty of 38 balls to help his team post 131.

Things did not look as good as MS Dhoni would have liked to when he came into the crease. CSK were under pressure at 61/5 with Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell at full throttle at them. Then came the loudest cheer of the match when Dhoni came into bat to join the new CSK captain Ravindra Jadeja.

Struggled with the spin of Varun and Sunil, Dhoni had to middle it against the pacers. And, he did middle it. Three boundaries against Andre Russell on the 18th over, then one boundary and over boundary off Shivam Maavi took him close to his first fifty of the season. A vintage helicopter shot on the fourth ball of the 20th over took him to 49.

With a single in the long-off region, MS Dhoni completed his first fifty in the last 28 IPL innings and became the oldest to score an IPL fifty.
