Legendary West Indies batter Brian Lara has been appointed the new head coach of the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from the IPL 2023 season onwards. Lara, who was recruited by the 2016 IPL champions as a batting coach and strategic advisor in the 2022 edition will replace Tom Moody in the role.

In a statement on Twitter, SRH announced Lara's appointment and thanked Moody for his contribution to the franchise. "The cricketing legend Brian Lara will be our head coach for the upcoming #IPL seasons
"As his term with us draws to an end, we would like to thank Tom for his contributions to SRH. It has been a much-cherished journey over the years, and we wish him the very best for future endeavors," the franchise added.
Tom Moody was SRH's coach from 2013 to the 2019 season. Moreover, he had an outstanding run with the franchise. He lead them to five playoff finishes including the best finish in 2016. Moody has parted ways with SRH before 2020 as the Orange Army appointed 2019 World Cup-winning coach of England, Trevor Bayliss.
SRH finished third in the competition, losing Qualifier 2 to Delhi Capitals in 2020, hence Bayliss was retained. Moody rejoined the franchise last year as Director of Cricket but the results were far from favorable as SRH endured their worst season ever, with just three wins in 11 matches.

Bayliss was removed and Moody took up the role again but SRH could win just six matches in the 10-team competition in 2022 and couldn't make it to the playoffs.
IPL 2023: Dale Steyn is the bowling coach while Muralitharan is the spin-bowling coach
Legendary South African paceman Dale Steyn serves as the bowling coach for SRH. Meanwhile, Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka serves as the franchise's spin-bowling and strategic coach.
The last two years have been the worst in the franchise's history. In the previous season, they finished last in the standings, winning just three of their 14 games. Brian Lara will face a challenging assignment in his new position as head coach.
