Suryakumar Yadav played some fabulous shots on the route to his maiden IPL hundred (103 not out). After getting an invitation to batting, MI posted 218 for 5 on the back of world number one T20 batter Suryakumar's 103 not out off just 49 balls, and then restricted GT to 191 for 8 to seize up their seventh win this season. This was MI's fourth consecutive 200-plus score on their home ground. The league has been pumped up as the IPL 2023 Points Table is changing after every game.

The win helped Mumbai Indians reclaim the third spot in the table with 14 points. Gujarat Titans continue to remain at the top despite the loss, while Chennai Super Kings are in the second position. Rajasthan Royals slipped to the fourth spot. If LSG register a victory against SRH on 13th May, they will be in the third position because of their NRR.
Suryakumar Yadav's blistering century came off just 49 deliveries
Suryakumar took the bowlers and smashed them all around the park. He kept true to his 'Mr 360' nickname. The batter began slowly as he had only 22 runs off 17 balls after 11 overs. Surya then changed his gear and smashed a six each in the next two overs (against Alzarri Joseph and Mohammed Shami). He launched an all-in attack after the 17th over of the innings. The batter was on 53 off 34 deliveries before the final 18 deliveries of the innings and then he smashed another 50 in just 15 deliveries.
The Indian bather continued with his range of shots, hitting Mohit Sharma for 20 runs in the 18th over with three fours and a six and bringing up the first century of his IPL career. He did it in style with a six off the last ball of the innings.
While Suryakumar played a blinder of innings that was studded with 11 fours and six sixes, Rohit Sharma (29), Ishan Kishan (31), and Vishnu Vinod (30) played some important innings for the home side. Chasing 219, GT were in danger of being bowled out for a low total, but a brutal unbeaten 79 off 32 from Rashid reduced the margin of the defeat drastically. He smashed 10 sixes on his way to the score.
