As per reports by Cricbuzz, the IPL franchise, and Punjab Kings are all set to have a new coach for the upcoming edition of the T20 league. They have already approached former England and KKR captain Eoin Morgan for the role. Moreover, along with Morgan, they have also approached Trevor Bayliss and one former India coach for the role of head coach.

IPL 2023, the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League has now got a two and a half months window for the upcoming edition. That means, IPL 2023 will start in March and will end by June of that year. The International Cricket Council has agreed with BCCI to give a long window for the cash-rich league.
Coming back to the topic, the captain of the Punjab-based franchise was changed in IPL 2022 as it switched from KL Rahul to Mayank Agarwal as Rahul left the franchise earlier. However, the performance of the franchise was not well enough to say in the last 4-5 years. They have failed to reach the playoffs several times.
The last time Punjab reached the playoffs they played the finals against KKR under Bailey's captaincy. However, they have yet to win a title in the cash-rich league.
IPL 2023: Trevor Bayliss is a former coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise
If Eoin Morgan accepts the offer by the franchise then it will be very interesting to see what changes he made to help the team to the trophy. Eoin Morgan has already led KKR to the finals of IPL 2021.

Meanwhile, the other choice is Trevor Bayliss, who was a first-class cricketer and played for New South Wales between 1985-1997. He has coached the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in IPL till the 2021 edition. Bayliss has already coached the England Cricket team from 2015 to 2019 and currently coaching the Australian cricket team.
However, Cricbuzz hasn't disclosed the other contender's name to date. It will be interesting to see who achieves the mark and is selected as the head coach of the Punjab Kings.
