Ahead of him is Michael Earthton, who was dismissed for zero 8 times in Tests while captaining England. Root has moved to joint second place for the most number of dismissals in Tests against a team in Tests as captain.

Root could not open the account for the fifth time against Australia as captain. In this respect, he is equal to Don Bradman.
