Harry Brook smashed an unbeaten 100 off 55 balls as Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a mammoth 228 for four against Kolkata Knight Riders. Skipper Aiden Markram also struck 50 off 26 balls. Andre Russell was the pick of the KKR bowlers with three wickets. Nitish Rana played a brilliant inning of 75 runs in 41 deliveries while Rinku Singh tried his best with 58* runs in 31 deliveries. Harry Brook gave a quick start to Hyderabad
KKR won the toss & decided to bowl first. Harry Brook got promoted as an opener. He opened with Mayank Agarwal while Umesh Yadav started the proceedings for Kolkata Knight Riders. The Englishman immediately took charge as he smashed KKR pacer Umesh Yadav three fours and two maximums in his two-over spell in the PowerPlay. Russell dismissed Mayank Agarwal in his first delivery of the season. He also dismissed Rahul Tripathi in the same over.
While a couple of wickets and the KKR spinners slowed Brook down, he bid his time patiently to reach fifty off 32 balls before the pacers returned. Skipper Aiden Markram played a brilliant inning alongside Brook. He completely dominated the opposition bowlers with plenty of boundaries. Markram completed his half-century in 25 deliveries with two fours & five sixes. Varun Chakravarty sent him home in the next delivery.
Harry Brook scored the first century of IPL 2023 as SRH posted the highest score of the campaign
Brook hammered pacer Lockie Ferguson for four fours and a six in the 15th over before getting past Shikhar Dhawan's 99 to record the highest individual score of the season. He completed his century in 55 deliveries with 12 fours and three sixes. After Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Jonny Bairstow, Brook became the fourth English batter to score a hundred in the IPL. He is also the joint-third quickest to an IPL ton in four innings. Sunrisers finished on 228 for four, the highest total of the season and the highest-ever by a visiting team at the Eden Gardens.

Bhuvi and Jansen gave a brilliant start to Hyderabad with early wickets
Kolkata Knight Riders lost an early wicket as Bhuvi dismissed Gurbaaz for a duck. Marco Jansen dismissed Venky Iyer for 10 runs in the fourth over. Jansen dismissed Narine in the very next delivery. Kolkata lost three wickets under just 20 runs.
Jagadeesan & Skipper Nitish Rana held their ground strong and built a partnership of 62 runs. Jagadeesan lost his wicket after scoring 36 runs as Markhande dismissed him in the 9th over. Nitish Rana got his form back in the last match and he showed that with a brilliant inning of 75 runs. In 41 deliveries, including 5 fours & 6 sixes, skipper Rana played his part really well. Natarajan dismissed him in the 17th over.
Previous match Hero, Rinku Singh remained not out with 58 runs in 31 deliveries with 4 sixes & 4 fours. Kolkata Knight Riders reached 205 runs after the end of 20 overs as they lost the match by 23 runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their second consecutive game with this victory.
