Test matches started on 15 March 1877 was surely the date to remember. The first-ever Test match was played between Australia and England in Melbourne. As of now, 12 teams have the accolades as the test playing nations which are England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Ireland, and Afghanistan. So far 5005 Tests have been played since then. Out of them, 3430 showed results while 1572 were drawn and 4 tests ended up as a tie. England has played the most number of test matches(1028) followed by Australia(853) & West Indies(571).
Australia has the most wins in test with 405 matches whereas England has won 388 matches. Teams like West Indies and South Africa won 182 & 177 matches respectively whereas India and Pakistan have won 172 and 146 matches. NZ have 112 wins in 464 test matches.
Srilanka has won their 100th test match recently against Ireland. They have won the match by an innings and 10 runs. Ireland made a good score of 492 in the first innings of the match in reply Srilanka declared their innings with 704/3. Kushal Mendis & Nishan Madhuska scored a double century in that game. Ireland bowled out for 202 in their 2nd innings and Srilanka registered their 100th win in the match.
