Nepal has been selected for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in US and West Indies in June,2024. They qualified for the World Cup by defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by eight wickets at the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground on Friday.

With the win, Nepal qualified for their second T20 World Cup after 10 years. Earlier, Nepal played T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2014. Moreover, Oman has also qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024 from the qualifying match held in Kathmandu.
Nepal completed the target of 135 runs given by UAE in 17.1 overs with the loss of three wickets. Wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh scored a half-century in Nepal's victory. He scored 64 runs off 51 balls with the help of one six and seven fours.
Meanwhile, captain Rohit Paudel scored 34 runs with the help of two sixes and two fours, while Gulsan Jha scored 22 runs and Kushal Bhurtel scored 11 runs. Nilansh Keswani and Basil Hameed took one wicket each for UAE.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, UAE scored 134 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Wicketkeeper Vriitya Aravind scored the highest 64 runs for UAE. He played 51 balls and hit two sixes and eight fours. Captain Muhammad Waseem scored 26 runs off 16 balls with two sixes and three fours. Asif Khan scored 13 runs, Alishan Sharafu scored 16 runs while other batsmen could not contribute significantly.
At the same time, Kushal Malla took three wickets and Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets for Nepal. Also, Sompal Kami and Rohit Poudel took one wicket each.
A total of 18 teams have finalised their spots in the T20 World Cup 2024 so far. The final two spots will be decided at the Africa qualifier, which will conclude at the end of the month.
