India will face Pakistan in the 12th match of the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams will come into the match after having won their opening two encounters of the 2023 ODI World Cup so far and will look to make it three wins out of three on October 14. Pakistan have never won against India in the World Cup in their seven meetings since 1992. Their previous loss was by 89 runs in 2019 in Manchester. There is not a single Pakistan player who has won the Player of the Match award in their 7 meetings with India. India vs Pakistan: POTM in World Cup matches since 1992

1992 - Sachin Tendulkar

India took on Pakistan in the Sydney Cricket Ground and emerged a 43-run winner. 19-year-old Sachin Tendulkar made 54 off 62 balls, a precursor to his many knocks that hurt Pakistan till the present time. His inning gave him the right to win the Player of the Match Award in the 1992 meeting.

1996 - Navjot Sidhu

The Indian opener scored 93 runs off 115 balls and hit 11 fours to provide a solid start to India in the Quarter-Final of the 1996 ODI World Cup. India won the match by 39 runs to qualify for the semi-final and Sidhu was awarded the Player of the Match Award.

1999 - Venkatesh Prasad

India scored 227 runs after coming into bat first. The Indian pacer bagged a five-for by dismissing Saeed Anwar, Saleem Malik, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Moin Khan, and Wasim Akram to provide a 47-run win to India.

2003 - Sachin Tendulkar

India got off to a flying start with openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag adding 53 runs on the board in just 5 overs while chasing 276. But Both Sehwag and skipper Sourav Ganguly were dismissed by seamer Waqar Younis on consecutive deliveries. The responsibility fell on the Master Blaster. Tendulkar carried on and despite the fall of wickets on the other end, he scored 98 in 75 balls at a strike rate of 130.66. His inning included 12 fours and a six which helped India chase the total ultimately.

2011 - Sachin Tendulkar

In the 2011 ODI World Cup, Tendulkar smashed 85 runs off 115 balls with the help of 11 fours to set the foundation for Indian inning in the semi-final match in Mohali. India defeated Pakistan by 29 runs in the nail-biting clash to qualify and ultimately win the final against Sri Lanka.

2015 - Virat Kohli

In the iconic Adelaide stadium, India had set a target of 301 runs on the back of Virat Kohli's 107 runs off 126 balls including eight fours. Suresh Raina (74) & Dhawan (73) also accompanied him on the way to set the target for their arch-rivals Pakistan. In return, Pakistan got bundled for 224 runs, courtesy of Mohammad Shami's four wickets. Virat Kohli was awarded the Player of the Match Award for his brilliant century.

2019 - Rohit Sharma

While opening alongside KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma played a knock of 140 (113) runs with the help of 14 fours and 3 sixes to put 336/5 on the scoreboard. Pakistan only managed to score 200 runs as they required 302 runs in 40 overs after rain disrupted the game for a while. He was awarded the Player of the Match Award for his incredible inning which is considered the best by any batsmen in the India vs Pakistan World Cup matches.
