Andile Phehlukwayo hits a six of Jadeja's fifth delivery in the 14th over to complete the chase for South Africa. A brilliant batting display from the home side and they have now taken a 1-0 lead in the SA vs IND 3-match T20I series.

Low full toss from Mukesh Kumar toward deep mid-wicket and Miller goes for another six but finds Siraj. Miller has to depart with South Africa needing 13 runs in 13 deliveries.

Siraj with a cross-seam delivery and Klaasen couldn't help but play a big shot and ultimately mistimed it. Easy catch for Jaiswal in the deep. Klaasen departs for 7.

Hendricks tries to smash over the infield but it goes straight to SKY at extra cover. Big wicket for India. Hendricks walks off for 49, and misses out his well-deserved half-century by only 1 run.

South Africa captain Aiden Markram's inning comes to an end. A short delivery from Mukesh and Markram goes after it. It was high but Siraj took a good catch at the fence.

Heinrich Klaasen is the new batsman.

Brilliant start for South Africa. Despite losing the wicket of Breetzke, the run rate hasn't slowed down. Skipper Markram started with three consecutive boundaries and then Hendricks, who started magnificently, carried on his thrashing and South Africa are now in the driving seat.

Breeztke calls for a double and runs off. Foolish running from the opener and he is caught well outside the crease. India gets their first wicket and that's a huge one to start with, especially after a poor start.

Hendricks and Breetzke begin the chase magnificently for South Africa. The first over was surely hot and cold for them but the second over of Arshdeep was nothing but very poor. At first, Breetzke smoked him for a six, and then Hendricks hit a 93m six out of the park in the last delivery.

2 healthy age but Hendricks survived both of the times. Siraj bowled beautifully but still conceded 14 runs in the first over.

India will not bat out the remaining 3 deliveries. South Africa will have to chase 152 runs under 15 overs (DLS). Bowlers can bowl a maximum of 3 overs. Batting powerplay overs: 5

The players are walking back to the dressing room due to rain. Three balls remain but umpires decide to pause the game to save the pitch for South Africa's batting.

Arshdeep is out on the first ball. He chips it straight to short third and walks off for a golden duck.

Jadeja tries to slog sweep on the second ball of the last over but is caught in front. He is given out. Jadeja reviews it but three reds pop up and Jadeja has to depart for 19.

Jitesh comes down the track and hits the ball straight to the deep midwicket fielder. Markram gets his first wicket and Jadeja is the new batsman.

Rinku Singh reaches his fifty in 30 balls filled with 9 fours. A brilliant inning from the left-handed batsman. At first, he partnered with skipper Suryakumar to build a partnership and now leading the Indian inning from the front.

Suryakumar charges down the track and is caught at long off. The brilliant inning finally comes to an end and the skipper has to depart for 56. This is the highest individual score in the T20I format in South Africa by an Indian Captain.

Rinku attempted a reverse sweep but got beaten and by the looks of it, was caught in front. He reviewed it and the replay showed that he had gloved it. Rinku survives. Huge relief for the Indian fans.

A brilliant inning from the skipper and it came off only in 29 deliveries consisting of 5 fours and 3 massive sixes. He came to bat when India were hanging 6/2 in 2 overs but then restricted a partnership with Tilak and now leading India from the front alongside Rinku Singh.

India are 101/3 after 11 overs.

There was a huge shout from Klaasen when Rinku Singh went for a reverse sweep but missed the ball completely. Klaasen appealed for the stumping but the third umpire confirmed that's not out.

Suryakumar then ended the over with a powerful sweep for a four.

Tilak Varma goes for an upper cut but finds Marco Jansen at deep third. He departs for 29 as Coetzee gets his first wicket of the match.

Rinku Singh comes into the crease and starts his inning with a beautiful straight drive for four. India ends the powerplay on 59/3.

Despite losing both openers for ducks in the first two overs, India completes the fifty-run mark in just five overs. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar have punished the pacers all over the pitch.

Gill is out for LBW. Ball was holding its line, and Gill was beaten by the pace. He reviewed it but three reds popped up. Huge wicket for South Africa. Gill departs for a duck. The skipper comes into the crease.

Same ball and same shot but this time Miller can't get hold of it. Tilak Varma survives. A dramatical first over from Marco Jansen.

Jaiswal is caught at point. Brilliant catch from Miller and Jaiswal departs for a duck. A back of the length delivery and Jaiswal hits it straight to the fielder. Tilak Varma is the new batsman.

"Square boundaries are 64m and 67m, straight hit is 77m. The average bounce in South Africa is 8cm more than what it is in India, but here at St George's Park it's not so much so India will be comfortable here. Lots of grass on the pitch today so that it can hold the surface together. Many batters complain about the ball hitting the bottom of the bat, but I don't think they need to worry about it today," reckons Pommie Mbangwa.

Team India will face South Africa in the second of three T20Is at St George's Oval. The first match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to incessant rains. After registering a 4-1 series victory against Australia at home last month, the team wants to carry on their momentum. Suryakumar Yadav, who stepped into the captaincy role following an injury to Hardik Pandya during the ODI World Cup in October, will continue to lead the side in the SA vs IND T20Is.
