According to a BCCI source, Gill is undergoing a complete recovery process and will be under the close monitoring of the medical team. Although he will join the team in Delhi, he will not return to his hometown Chandigarh for rest. It is expected that he will return to the field before the important match against Pakistan. Whether Gill will take the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 field against Pakistan or not will depend on his upcoming medical report.

Earlier, the Indian openers faced a challenging performance against Australia, with both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan failing to make an impact at the crease. Despite predictions, both the batsmen returned to the pavilion without putting any runs on the board. After this, Shreyas Iyer also failed to make an impact, leaving India in a tough position of 2 runs for 3 wickets. However, the amazing partnership between Virat Kohli (85) and KL Rahul (97*), marked by clever collaboration and composed play, took Team India to its first win in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill's absence will undoubtedly prompt Team India to re-evaluate their batting lineup and come up with a fresh strategy. His presence at the top of the order has been helpful in providing stability and setting the direction of the innings. The team management will now have to look for alternative options and potentially reshuffle the batting order to compensate for Gill's absence.

Although Gill's recovery remains a priority, the focus will be on ensuring that he returns to full fitness as soon as possible. The medical team, along with Gill, will carefully monitor his progress. The upcoming match against Pakistan is in danger and this is an important moment for Gill to return to the playing field. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended its support to Gill during this period of recovery.
