Team News

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH failed to qualify for the final in their first attempt as they lost to KKR. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma's opening pair has been one of the most lethal duos of the tournament but both failed to contribute with runs against Kolkata. Travis Head got out for a duck once again. Both the openers will try to make a comeback and provide a good start to their side.

It will be interesting to see what SRH does with Markram. Nitish Kumar Reddy hasn't been poor with his batting so far but he did disappoint in the Qualifier 1. Shahbaz Ahmed and Abdul Samad couldn't do any magic too. It was Rahul Tripathi who was fighting alone and he will be there on Friday too.

Heinrich Klaasen has played some match-winning innings this season and played a good inning against KKR too. SRH have been part of many high-scoring games so the bowling is worrying the fans. They are scoring but are conceding runs at the same time. All the bowlers were pretty bad against KKR.

The positive is that Bhuvi has been bowling some extraordinary spells in the last few matches. Natarajan is scalping wickets in almost every game and Cummins knows how to handle his bowlers that's why they have won some thrilling contests this season. But, if they want to qualify for the final, a complete team performance will be required, but the players' forms are not at the same level as before.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator to keep their hopes alive for the Final. Jos Buttler has returned to England so Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the inning with Tom Kohler-Cadmore. He has no IPL experience as Tom has played only two games in the tournament including the Eliminator. Jaiswal is in poor form but he played a 45-run inning against RCb which was an important one.

Sanju Samson has been the most crucial player for Rajasthan in the top order, scoring 521 runs in 14 innings but he has faced difficulties in the last few games. Riyan Parag is set to bat at no 4 and has been brilliant for the side. He has scored 567 runs for RR in 14 innings which speaks volumes. Dhruv Jurel has played some crucial cameos here and there but hasn't been consistent. Rovman Powell played an important role in Rajasthan's victory against RCB in the Eliminator so he will bat as a lower-middle-order batsman.

Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma are expected to feature as the leading pace bowlers with Avesh Khan bowling the death overs. Avesh has bowled some critical overs and scalped 16 wickets so far, but his economy is concerning. Sandeep Sharma isn't in a good form which has caused problems to the team in the last few matches. Boult delivered a stupendous spell against Bangalore and knows how to step up in an important game.

Yuzvendra Chahal disappointed the team with another poor spell. His struggle is visible as the ex-Bangalore spinner has failed to deliver consistently this season. Ashwin can cause problems in Chepauk's pitch although scalping wickets has been the most challenging part for the ex-CSK spinner this season.

Major setback for BCCI as Bombay HC orders to pay โ‚น538 crore to defunct IPL team Kochi Tuskers Kerala | sportzpoint.com

For years, the Board of Control for Crock in India (BCCI) has navigated various challenges. However a recent coury order is set to have a major financial impact on the sport's governing body.

This ruling revisits a past chapter involving a former IPL team and a long-standing dispute with them. The decision has arrived after a decade of the case, and brings a major setback for BCCI as Bombay HC orders to pay โ‚น538 crore to defunct IPL team Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

Read the full story to know why.

How the BCCI-Kochi Tuskers Kerala dispute began

BCCI authorities, 2025. Image | Facebook

The root of this major legal battle dates back to 2011, when the BCCI terminated the contract of the IPL team Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The team, managed by Kochi Cricket Private Limited (KCPL), had only played in one IPL season.

The BCCI claimed they ended the contract because Kochi Tuskers failed to provide a required annual bank guarantee by a deadline in March 2011. This was seen by the BCCI as a serious breach of their agreement.

However, the team owners had a different view. They argued that their delay was due to several issues, including problems with the stadium in Kochi and delays in getting necessary approvals. They also stated that the BCCI continued to deal with them and even accepted payments for months after the March deadline.

The team owners believed this showed the BCCI had waived or overlooked the deadline, making their sudden contract termination unfair.

Taking the matter to arbitration:

Because they felt the termination was wrong, the Kochi Tuskers owners took the matter to arbitration in 2012. An independent tribunal looked at all the facts. In June 2015, this tribunal ruled in favor of Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

The tribunal specifically directed the BCCI to pay โ‚น384.83 crore to Kochi Cricket Private Limited (KCPL) for lost earnings and โ‚น153.34 crore to Rendezvous Sports World (RSW) for a wrongfully cashed bank guarantee. These amounts also included interest and legal costs.

The Financial Fallout: Why โ‚น538 crore to be paid now?

Bombay High Court. Image | Wikipedia

The BCCI challenged the 2015 arbitration award in the Bombay High Court, arguing it was unfair and that the damages were too high. However, the recent Bombay HC ruling upheld the original arbitration decision.

This means the BCCI is now legally required to pay a total of over โ‚น538 crore, including accumulated interest since 2015, to the KTK owners. This represents a major financial loss and a significant legal defeat for the Indian cricket board.

A single social media activity has sent shockwaves through the cricketing world ahead of IPL 2026 auction. A recent 'hint' from Sanju Samson's manager has intensified the possibility of his transfer to Chennai Super Kings from Rajasthan Royals in the next season.

Fans are wondering whether this would come true and change the landscape for both the teams in the future, or is it just another false call.

There's been a mixed bag of positive and upsetting reactions in the past 24 hours, but the real question still stands: Will Sanju Samson join CSK for IPL 2026? Check out how Manager's hint fuels mega transfer rumours.

"Time to Move": Samson's recent viral Instagram post

On June 7, Sanju Samson posted a photo on Instagram that begin the rumors. The image featured him alongside his wife, crossing a prominent yellow line on the road. He captioned the post: "Time to MOVE..!!"
