T20 World Cup 2022: India Team Preview

Team India is all set to start their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23. However, before that, the Men In Blue will involve in two warm-up games against Australia and New Zealand respectively. The squad is looking good despite missing their two major match-winners Jadeja and Bumrah, who are out of the tournament with different injuries.

Rohit Sharma will lead the side for the first time in the T20 World Cup history. Pacer Mohammed Shami, who was first set to travel as a reserve, but now replaced Bumrah in the main squad. Siraj and Shardul are selected as the traveling reserves after their brilliant performance in the recently concluded ODIs against South Africa.

India won the T20 World Cup once when it beat Pakistan in the final of the inaugural edition in Johannesburg in 2007.

Strengths

Talking about India's strength it's always their top three - KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli. If the top three perform then India surely wins any match. Meanwhile, the bowling department is also looking decent with Shami being included in the squad. Bhuvi Harshal and Arshdeep are the other three pacers who can perform for the side. The middle order is also strong with Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik. Meanwhile, Surya is going through his dream form and will be looking to do so.

Weakness

Now, the weakest link on the Indian side is the unavailability of Jadeja and Bumrah on the team. A void that can't be fulfilled, although they have Axar and Shami on the side as like-to-like replacements. Rohit and coach Dravid have to work on the players to make it to the end of the mega event.
