The seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to begin on Friday, March 22 with a huge clash between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai. Virat made his debut in IPL in the first edition of IPL 2008 and since then, he has scored an ample amount of runs and broken many records. The chase master holds the record for scoring the most runs in IPL. He has scored 7263 runs in 237 matches, including 7 centuries and 50 fifties. Virat scored those runs at an average of 37.24 and a strike rate of 130.02.
His best season came in 2016 when he scored an incredible 973 runs in a single season, including 4 hundreds which is still the highest individual runs in a single season. King Kohli smashed seven half-centuries and four centuries, with a top score of 113 in the 2016 season. RCB lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final despite Kohli's brilliance. Kohli received the Player of the Tournament award for his outstanding achievements including a century against the Gujarat Lions.

The second best IPL season from the bat of Virat came in the last season. The former RCB skipper scored 639 runs in 14 matches at an average of 53.25 including two centuries and six centuries. He also became the fast player in the history of the Indian Premier League to cross 7000 runs. After struggling in the 2022 season, he made a strong comeback in 2023. But, despite his good performances, RCB failed to make it to the playoffs.
