The 21-year-old, Yashasvi Jaiswal completed his fifty off just 13 balls to achieve this feat. Jaiswal smacked 26 runs in the first over off KKR skipper Nitish Rana to start a 150-run chase. Jaiswal has now scored more than 530 runs this season overtaking Ishan Kishanโ€™s (516) record of most runs in an IPL season by an uncapped Indian player.

Yashasvi Jaiswal struck ย 6, 6, 4, 4, 2, 4 in the first six balls of the innings. The Royals did lose the important wicket of Jos Buttler in the second over but the Indian opener was unplayable as he continued on his aggressive approach. Jaiswal reached the record-breaking half-century mark in the very next over of the chase. He smashed Shardul Thakur for a hat-trick of fours. He smashed seven fours and three sixes en route to his fifty.

Jaiswal became the joint-second fastest Indian to hit 1000 IPL runs after reaching the elite milestone in just 34 innings. Among Indians, only batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar and Chennai Super Kings star Ruturaj Gaikwad had entered the club faster in 31 innings.

RR won the toss & decided to bowl first. Yuzvendra Chahal, with 186 wickets, became the highest wicket-taker in IPL history and ended up with four wickets for 25 runs in four overs. RR restricted KKR to a low total of 149/8.

Fastest fifties in IPL:

Pat Cummins smashed a 14-run fifty in the game against Mumbai Indians in the previous edition of the tournament. KL Rahul then held the record with the same figures against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
