BCCI just announced India scores for the upcoming ZIM vs IND series. India legend and current head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) VVS Laxman will assume the role of the head coach for the tour of Zimbabwe.
India’s current coach Rahul Dravid has been given a break for the Asia cup which starts on the 27th of August. India will play their first match of the Asia cup against Pakistan on the 28th of August.
While VVS Laxman replaces Rahul Dravid as the head coach, Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Sairaj Bahutule are named as the batting and bowling coaches for the ZIM vs IND series respectively. They will replace Vikram Rathore and Paras Mhambrey.
This will be Kanitakr’s first senior team campaign. Although he was successful as the head coach of the U19 India team which won the World Cup earlier this year.
During the Ireland tour, VVS Laxman was appointed as the head coach in the absence of Rahul Dravid. In Ireland series, Laxman had Bahutle and Sitanshu Kotak as other coaches with him.
India is all set to play three ODIs from 18 to 22 August against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club. This tour will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Though India has already qualified for the next world cup by the virtue of being the host, Zimbabwe will try to qualify as one of the eight automatic teams.
KL Rahul’s inclusion is one the good news for India. He will lead the 16-men squad as he was declared fit earlier.
