Atletico de Madrid defeated Inter Milan in the penalty shootouts after the scores were tied 2-2 on aggregate, to become the last team to enter the quarter-finals of the uefa Champions League 2023-24. Madrid despite being 0-1 behind from the first leg, had to come from behind again in this game to enter the final eight. It was Dimarco who scored the first and only goal for Inter Milan. But, Atletico made a quick comeback with a great goal from Antonie Griezmann two minutes later.

Finally, Memphis Depay came from the bench to equal things on aggregate for the home team. Both teams missed few chances in the extra time with Riquelme missing an easy change and Thuram missing two chances for Inter.

At the end, Juan Oblak emerged as the hero for Diego Simione's team as he saved two penalties. Lautaro Martinez missed the final penalty for Inter to sum up their night in Madrid.

Inter get the second half started.

A brilliant first-half ends. Both teams missed a few chances with Atletico de Madrid being the more offensive team. Dimarco put the tie in the favour of Inter Milan but Griezmann pulled things back for the home team with a stunning goal two minutes later. Inter still lead in the aggregate.

Pavard blocks a shot from Griezmann to deny him his second.

Who else? Antione Griezmann, the all-time goal scorer for Atletico de Madrid finds the net on another occasion. Brilliant finish from the French men to receive the ball inside the box with one touch and then make the turn to volley it inside the goal. Game on!

Dimarco scores for the away team. Inter lead by 2-0 in the aggregate. Barella makes a great run on the left after receiving the ball from Martinez in a counter attack. He gives it to Dimarco, who was waiting in the middle to send it past Oblak.
