Rodri becomes the first player under the age of 31 to win the Ballon d'Or award since 2015. Lionel Messi, then 28 in 2015 had won the award as a player below 31.

George Weah, the only African player to win the Ballon d'Or, back in 1991 will present the Men's Ballon d'Or 2024.

Spain and FC Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bontami won defended her Ballon d'Or Feminin award successfully. She won the award after a stunning season with Barcelona where she won the UWCL. With Spain, she won the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 as well.

She has now become the second player to win the Ballon d'Or Feminin second time. Her fellow teammate Alexia Puttelas was the first to achieve the feat.

This is the fourth consecutive season that a Spaniard has won the award -

Carlo Ancelotti, the Real Madrid boss wins the Men's Coach of the Year 2024 award for winning the La Liga and UEFA Champions League with the Los Blancos.

Jenni Hermoso of Spain wins the prestigious and important Socrates Award for her voice against sexual harassment in women's football. 

After Luis Rubiales, Spanish FA president forcefully kissed her after the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 final, she raised her voice saying it was not consented despite pressure from the Spanish governing body.

Sadio Mane and Vinicius Jr. won the award in 2022 and 2023.

Lindsey Horan and Mallory Swanson of the USA and Katoto of France finished at number 7, 6 and 5 respectively.

Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez wins the Yashin Trophy 2024, for the consecutive seasons. He becomes the first player to win this award back-to-back times.

Aitana Bontami won the Women's Ballon d'Or 2023 for her 18 goals and 21 assists in the season where she won the UWCL title for the second time along with FIFA Women's World Cup 2023. She was named player of the tournament in both tournaments.

Lionel Messi won the 2023 Ballon d'Or award and became the first player outside the European top leagues to win the award.
