Bayern Munich vs Villarreal is the next second leg match in this year's UEFA Champions League Quarter-final. Villareal looks to do the impossible and shock Bayern Munich with an Quarter final exit at Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich vs Villarreal: Match Preview:

An Arnaut Danjuma goal in Spain secured the LaLiga side a shock one-goal aggregate advantage as they head to Bavaria, although Bayern were also up against it in the last round before demolishing RB Salzburg.

In response, the Bundesliga giants were far from their best once again on Saturday and required a late Robert Lewandowski penalty to edge Augsburg.

Unai Emery's Villarreal continued their domestic struggles ahead of the game and drew 1-1 with Athletic Club to make it just one league win in five, leaving them seventh and well off the pace in the race to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Team News:

Bayern Munich:

One positive aspect of Bayern's clash with Villarreal for the Bavarians was the long-awaited return of Alphonso Davies at left-back, and Lucas Hernandez will be fine to return from the thigh issue that kept him out of the Augsburg win.

Niklas Sule is still out of contention while he battles with the flu, and Nagelsmann must also work around the absences of Bouna Sarr, Corentin Tolisso and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, but it would have been a surprise to see any of them start.

Leon Goretzka was busted wide open in the first leg but was fine to play 57 minutes at the weekend, while Kingsley Coman will also expect a recall to the first XI after an ineffective opening 45 minutes from Serge Gnabry in the Augsburg win.

Villareal:

In contrast, Villarreal remain in good shape for the second leg barring long-term absentee Alberto Moreno, while striker Boulaye Dia is still struggling with his muscular problem and remains doubtful too.

As mentioned, Emery made the incredible decision to make a full 11 changes for the weekend's clash with Athletic and should revert to the team that got the job done in the first leg, with Juan Foyth seemingly fine to return at right-back despite an injury scare towards the end of that contest.

Danjuma, Moreno, Giovani Lo Celso, Dani Parejo and Raul Albiol are all among those who will return for the Allianz trip, and the only enforced change that Emery had to make at the weekend was due to Pau Torres's domestic suspension, with the centre-back fine to return for Europe.

Bayern Munich vs Villarreal: Head to Head:

In three head-to-head encounters between the two sides, Bayern Munich have won two games and lost one.

The two clubs last faced each other in the reverse leg, with Villarreal beating Bayern Munich 1-0. An early first-half goal from former Bournemouth winger and Netherlands international Arnaut Danjuma secured the win for Villarreal.
