Connor Shields earned the Player of the Match award for his terrific performance and an assist.

It ends all square at the Kalinga Stadium. Punjab and Chennaiyin play out a 1-1 draw filled with 3 red cards. Wilmar Jordan Gil put Punjab FC in front after scoring in the 4th minute of the game.

Chennai slowly grew up in the game and started to create opportunities. But the highlight of the first half was the red cards that were shown to Amarjit Kiyam and the Punjab FC coach Staikos Vergetis.

Punjab started the second half without their coach in the sidelines. Chennai constantly put pressure upon the Punjab defenders. However, Rafael Crivellaro saw his second yellow card of the game which forced Chennaiyin to play with 10-men too.

Connor Shields' excellent cross was headed home by Jordan Murray in the 82nd minute. Punjab FC created some late chances but it ended 1-1 at Bhubaneswar.

Abhishek fails to beat the Chennaiyin goal keeper from the close range and it could have been a winner for Punjab FC.

Referee Pratik Mondal shows a Yellow Card to Luka Majcen for commenting something from the substitute bench.

The scoreline is level at the Kalinga Stadium with six minutes to play.

Aakash Sangwan is off. Alexander Jesuraj replaces him.

Dimitrios is rock solid in the 2nd half. The Greek defender has been exceptional since Punjab has gotten one man down.

In the other game, we saw Valpuia's goal getting disallowed. And now in this match, Amarjeet was shown the red card which was surely a harsh decision. He was given a yellow at first. There is no VAR in the competition so how come the decision changed?

In the second half, it is evident that lots of decisions are going Chennai's way.

Aakash Sangwan was clearly pulling a Punjab player's shirt but the referee ignored it completely and gifted Chennai a throw instead of giving Punjab a deserved free kick.

Aakash Sangwan goes down in the box but it was a brilliant tackle from Abhishek, nothing wrong in it. Punjab defenders are giving their everything to hold onto the lead.

Chennai needs a goal to make a comeback in the match and they are attacking constantly to put pressure on the Punjab FC defence.

Rafael Crivellaro's corner troubles Punjab but the defenders somehow evade danger.

The second half begins with Chennaiyin FC trailing by 1 goal against the 10-men Punjab FC.

Rahim Ali replaces injured Ninthoi.

Drama in Bhubaneswar. After the review, referee has handed Amarjit Kiyam a Red Card.

Punjab FC coach Staikos Vergetis sees the Red card as well. Punjab will continue with 10-men and without their coach in the second half.

Amarjit Kiyam gets the yellow for elbowing Ninthoi. The Chennaiyin FC player is down in the ground and the treatment is going on.

Dimitrios Chatziisaias is booked for a nasty challenge.

Aakash Sangwan wins a corner for Chennaiyin FC. A brilliant run by him and wins the much-needed setpiece. Rafael Crivellaro takes the corner but to no one is available to create a chance out of it.

Chennaiyin are struggling to create a chance at the moment.

Chennaiyin FC will face Punjab FC in the second Group C game of the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 on 11th January at the Kalinga Stadium. Chennai are sitting 7th in the ISL table with 12 points in 12 matches. Owen Coyle's side has won just one out of their last five matches. Chennai are coming into the match after getting thrashed 3-0 by Mumbai City FC in the ISL.
