Man City vs Copenhagen UCL RO16 Highlights: City enter their seventh consecutive Champions League quarter-final

Manchester City recorded their seventh consecutive UEFA Champions League Quarter-final entry after beating Copenhagen by 3-1 in the second leg of round of 16 at Etihad. First-half Goals from Akanji, Julian Álvarez, and Erling Haaland ensured that the defending champions would beat the Denish team by 6-2 in aggregate. Copenhagen with a solid goal from Elyounoussi tired to build some resistance but Pep's men were too good for any miracle.

This was Manchester City's 10th consecutive win in UEFA Champions League and they now have equalled Real Madrid (2015) and FC Bayern Munich (2013, 2020) with that record. Erling Haaland has now equalled the record for most goals in this season's Champions League alongside Harry Kane.

The UCL 2023-24 Quarter-final and semi-final draw will take place on Friday 15 March 2024.

Manchester City sailed smoothly into the quarter-finals of the Champions League with minimal drama, displaying their dominance with their preferred scoreline of the season. Akanji, Álvarez, and Haaland's first-half goals ensured a comfortable victory, despite a brief moment of energy from Copenhagen after Elyounoussi's goal. With an ominous aura, the defending champions proved formidable, making them a tough challenge for any opponent.

Right after kick-off, Ederson made a mistake trying to clear the ball, but Copenhagen didn't take advantage of it. Luckily, Kovačić managed to recover the situation and cleared the ball out of danger.

A brilliant areal ball from Rodri and a great touch with a little turn meant the big man could take a shot past the defender. He gets the goal just before the half-time and City lead by 3-1.

Vavro makes another block to deny Julian Alvarez on the left of the box.

Copenhagen after the goal looked solid and have made a few final thrid entries as well. Meanwhile, City have gone down a bid with Copenhagen pressing a bit now with more confidence and perhaps hopes.

We are nearing the 30th minute of the match and Cophenhagen have found it hard to get going at Etihad.

A counter attack and Copenhagen score in the first time they enter the final third. It's City 2-1 Copenhagen. Elyounoussi plays a one-two with Óskarsson before sending the ball past Ederson.

A mistake from Copenhegan goalkeeper Grabara and Julian Alvarez scores his first of the night and surely it won't be the last. Another corner that led to the goal.

Early goal for Manchester City and it was something Copenhegan fans would have hoped for not to happen. Corner from Julian Alvarez and Akanzi comes out from the middle to get a foot on the ball and it goes inside the box.

Alvarez has taken up a position on the left side of City's attack, while Bobb has positioned himself on the right side, and Nunes is closest to Haaland. It's worth noting that Guardiola's team is incredibly adaptable, however.
